Sand Unity Ceremony:
The bride and groom pour different colored sand into a special glass that symbolizes
their blending into one.
Personal Vows:
More and more couples are writing their own vows and then either reading them to
each other or having the officiant lead them in reciting the vows. A few of the more
adventurous couples even memorize these vows!
Anniversary Dance:
Instead of typical bouquet and garter toss, the couple invites all married couples to
the dance floor and then dismisses them according to the years they have been
married. The bride then presents the bouquet to the longest married couple.
Sweetheart Table:
A romantic table for just the bride and groom.
A Collage of Bride and Groom:
These are pictures of the bride and groom growing up as well as pictures of the two
of them together. These can be displayed on posters, individual frames arranged on
a table or a slide show presented during the reception.
Chocolate Fountains:
These are becoming increasingly popular. Guests dip a variety of fruit into the
fountain for a delicious treat.
Alternative Cakes:
Table cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and other favored sweet desserts are
replacing the standard tiered wedding cake.
Margarita Machines:
Frozen margaritas are dispensed from a machine that easily fits into the
punch bowl line.
Serenades:
This can take various forms. A musician may serenade the couple with their
special song or the bride or groom may serenade his new mate with a song.
Often, in place of the traditional clinking of the glasses to get the couple to kiss,
guests will serenade the couple with a song that includes the word 'love'.
Couple's First Dance:
Couple's have frequently had their first dance right after being announced
into the reception
Eloping With Family and Friends:
Couples who desire to marry away from home - usually at a romantic
destination - are bringing along an intimate group of close family and
friends to help them celebrate the occasion.
